High Temperature Labels

High Temperature Labels

View full details

High‑temperature industrial labels that survive paint bake, powder‑coat, reflow/wave solder, autoclave, and harsh washdown—without lifting, fading, or losing scanability. Every construction is engineered around your temperature profile, substrate, chemicals, abrasion, and data requirements.

Need a tailored construction or preprinted graphics? We build to spec with custom sizes, colors, and variable data for reliable identification and traceability in extreme environments.

Key Capabilities

Heat Endurance

  • Constructions available for continuous service up to 260 °C / 500 °F (polyimide) and short spikes to 300 °C / 572 °F.
  • Options for paint/powder‑coat ovens (180–230 °C / 356–446 °F).
  • Ceramic or metal tag options for environments above 600 °C / 1112 °F where adhesives cannot be used.

Adhesion on Real‑World Surfaces

  • High‑temp acrylic and silicone adhesive systems bond to bare metal, powder‑coat, glass, ceramics, and high‑energy plastics—flat, curved, or rough.

Durable Print & Barcodes

  • High‑resolution graphics and variable data that resist smear, solvents, and abrasion using industrial resin thermal‑transfer, laser‑markable films, or durable preprint.
  • 1D/2D symbologies (Code 128, Data Matrix, QR) designed to remain scannable after heat and chemical exposure.

Chemical, UV, & Outdoor Resistance

  • Constructions to withstand oils, fuels, flux, cleaners, alcohols, alkaline wash, and cutting fluids.
  • UV‑stable face stocks and topcoats available for extended outdoor service.

Made‑to‑Order

  • Any size, shape, color, and layout; serialized data; kitting; and private labeling available.

Note: Final performance depends on dwell time at temperature, substrate prep, and exposure mix. We validate against your use case and provide samples for line trials.

Typical Constructions

Polyimide (High Heat: Electronics / Metal Finishing)

  • Service: up to 260 °C / 500 °F (short spikes to 300 °C / 572 °F).
  • Features: exceptional dimensional stability, reflow/wave‑solder capable, excellent print with resin ribbons; silicone adhesive options for better high‑heat hold.

Aluminum Foil or High‑Temp Polyester (Paint & Powder‑Coat)

  • Service: 150–200 °C / 302–392 °F (short bakes to approx. 230 °C / 446 °F).
  • Features: conformable to textured/powder‑coated surfaces; strong initial tack and final bond.

Ceramic / Metal Identification (Extreme Heat)

  • Service: 600 °C / 1112 °F+.
  • Features: for furnaces/foundry; applied mechanically (tie‑on/riveted) or with specialty cements where adhesives are unsuitable.

Finishing & Supply Options

  • Supply formats: rolls (1″/3″ cores), fanfold, sheets; inside/outside wound.
  • Features: perforations, notches, black‑mark sensors; protective laminates; part‑matching kits.

Industry Use Cases

  • Powder‑coat & paint lines: WIP tracking through pre‑treat, oven, cure; post‑process asset ID.
  • Electronics manufacturing: PCB labels for reflow/wave solder, test, and rework; device traceability.
  • Automotive & heavy equipment: Engine/transmission/component ID through hot testing and fluids.
  • Aerospace MRO & manufacturing: Parts labeling where heat, solvents, and abrasion are routine.
  • Laboratory & healthcare: Autoclave‑safe identification for trays, instruments, and containers (121–134 °C / 250–273 °F).
  • Metal fabrication & finishing: Blast, coat, bake, and ship with the same identifier.
  • Oil & gas / utilities: Outdoor, UV, chemical, and intermittent heat exposure.

How We Engineer Your Label

  1. Process profile: peak temp, time at temp, number of cycles, ramp/soak, cooldown.
  2. Surface & environment: substrate type, texture/roughness, curvature, cleaners, oils, solvents, UV/water.
  3. Data & print method: preprinted vs on‑demand, barcode type/size, serialization, human‑readable.
  4. Format: size/shape, color, roll/sheet, core, wind, gap, perforation, kitting.
  5. Compliance & documentation: UL® 969/CSA/RoHS/REACH as required; rating plate layouts; lot traceability.
  6. Validation: samples for line trials plus adjustments before production.

Application Guidance

  • Apply to clean, dry, oil‑free surfaces.
  • For adhesive‑backed labels, apply at room temperature, use firm pressure, and allow ~24 hours dwell before first heat exposure.
  • Round internal corners and avoid placing labels across seams or heavy texture when possible.
  • For >300 °C or where adhesion is uncertain, consider ceramic/metal tags or mechanical attachment.

Quality & Compliance

  • Documented QC from material receipt through shipment; lot traceability available.
  • UL® 969‑compliant constructions and other certifications available on request (include requirements in your RFQ).
  • Material declarations (RoHS/REACH), SDS, and sample data sheets provided with quotes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these survive 500 °F?
Yes—our polyimide/silicone systems are designed for 260 °C / 500 °F continuous service with short spikes to 300 °C / 572 °F. We’ll match the construction to your dwell time and chemistry.
Will powder‑coat or paint cover the code?
We supply options for pre‑bake WIP (removed post‑coat) or post‑bake permanent IDs that adhere to cured coatings. Share your workflow in the RFQ and we’ll recommend the best path.
Can you ship blank labels for my in‑house printer?
Absolutely. We recommend resin ribbons for thermal‑transfer and can size rolls to your printer (core, OD, wind, gap).
Do you offer outdoor‑rated high‑temp labels?
Yes—UV‑stable face stocks and topcoats are available. Let us know expected sunlight and weather exposure.
What if we go above 300 °C?
Adhesives lose strength above that range. We typically pivot to ceramic or stainless tags with mechanical attachment.
